NATIONAL SECURITY Minister Fitzgerald Hinds met with Police Commissioner Gary Griffith on Wednesday on policing and the pandemic.
A media release issued by the National Security Ministry said Hinds hosted a meeting with Griffith and other members of the police at the National Operations Fusion Centre, Knowsley, Port of Spain.
The meeting focused on the role of law enforcement agencies to enforce the covid19 public health regulations, the release said.
Action will be taken over the next three weeks, it said, to ensure that laws are properly followed and enforced.
"Each division will have an enforcement team, which will report daily on their operations," it added.
After Wednesday's meeting, Hinds will meet with heads of the Defence Force and other other protective services and other key officials of the ministry for an update on anti-crime strategies and to discuss the way forward in executing the ministry’s mandate.
