Penal man killed while taking out garbage

A PENAL man who went to take out the garbage on Sunday night was shot to death by an unknown assailant.

Joel De Couteau, 39, also known as “Pell,” was one of three men who all died on Sunday night from gunshot wounds.

De Couteau’s distraught wife told the police her husband had left their Beckles Street home around 8.15 pm to take out the garbage.

She found him lying in a track, bleeding from gunshot wounds.

The police were called, but De Couteau died on the scene.

Homicide Region 3 police are continuing investigations.

In separate incidents, Maurice Joyeaux was also killed when gunmen stormed his Maraval home while he slept with a female companion around 2.30 am.

In Tunapuna, Dillon Singh, who was shot during a robbery on the Eastern Main Road, later died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was taken on Sunday evening.

Police said Singh was at a service station when a gunman approached and demanded cash. They struggled and Singh was shot. His assailant escaped with some cash.

Homicide Region 2 is investigating.
