LADY vice chairman of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Camille Robinson-Regis on Saturday said she has lost a friend in the death of Energy Minister Franklin Khan.

On behalf of the National Women’s League of the PNM, chairman Robinson-Regis, also expressed deepest condolences to the family of the late senator who died suddenly.

She described him as, “a loyal and esteemed leader of the PNM and the Government.

“The League is deeply saddened at the passing of one of this country’s brightest lights, who devoted his life to public service, leading with humility always and in the interest of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

“Indeed, our hearts are heavy with profound grief, as we pay tribute to a loyal and dedicated colleague who worked shoulder to shoulder with the leadership, as well as, with the rank and file of the country, bringing good governance to the people. “

She said he will be remembered for his affable and unassuming manner and for being one of the most approachable politicians in the country.

“I considered him my friend, his heart and soul were PNM from childhood, the party and its’ membership were his family after his devotion to his wife Laura his children, grandchildren and relatives.”

She said he was caring, well-respected and loved for his commitment and his sage advice.

“He will be sadly missed. The League mourns the loss of a true patriot and nationalist. We, the women of the PNM family, envelop our arms around Laura, the children and grandchildren and join with them in knowing that God will grant them the strength and courage in this time of sorrow and mourning.”
