64 new covid19 cases take week's tally to 419

SIXTY-FOUR new cases of covid19 have been reported by the Ministry of Health on Saturday for the previous 24-hour period, the same figure of infections it reported the day before.

In its 4 pm covid19 update, the ministry said 64 new cases had been reported for the second straight day, a figure which sees the number of active cases rise to 748.

The number of deaths attributed to the virus stands at 150. There was a surge of cases in the past week, with a total of 419 being reported between Sunday and Saturday.

A total of 8,806 cases have been recorded since March 12, 2020, with 7,908 patients having recovered.

Eighty-five patients are currently in hospital. Six are in step-down facilities, 310 in state quarantine facilities and 593 in home isolation.

Some 16,414 people have received doses of covid19 vaccines.
