Rowley chairs emergency Caricom meeting

The Prime Minister,who is chairman of Caricom, and who has covid19, chaired a special emergency meeting of Caricom heads of government on Thursday.

A post on Dr Rowley’s Facebook page said the meeting focused on the mobilisation of relief supplies from all of Caricom for the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines, who are experiencing the effects of the eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano.

The volcano, which last erupted some 42 years ago, exploded again on April 9.

The post said Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dr Amery Browne; Minister of National Security and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young; and Ambassador to Caricom Frances Seignoret were also at the meeting

Earlier on Thursday, Rowley also chaired a virtual meeting of the Cabinet.

He is currently in quarantine at the PM's official residence in Blenheim, Tobago.
