64 new covid19 cases end rough week

AN additional 64 cases of covid19 were reported by the Ministry of Health on Friday, bringing active cases to 712.

It marks the end of one the country's worst weeks in terms of the number of new cases recorded, totalling 333 between Monday and Friday's reports.

Of the 64 new cases recorded, one is a recently repatriated person.

The cases reflect samples taken over the previous three days.

The number of deaths remains at 150 after the last two recorded on Thursday.

Some 80 patients are currently in hospital.

In total, 119,443 people have been tested at both public and private facilities, 8,742 of whom tested positive. In all 7,880 people have recovered.

As of 4 pm on Friday, 15,425 people had received doses of vaccines.
