The Telecommunications Authority (TATT) in collaboration with the Central Statistical Office (CSO) will do a national digital inclusion survey on April 17.

In a statement on Tuesday, it said the survey aims to measure the digital divide between people who have access to TATTand those who do not.

“Data will also be collected during the survey to assess factors necessary for the efficient use of ICTs such as skill, motivation, and trust.”

It said the initiative is one of many from the government’s national ICT plan 2018-2022 and TATT's universal service framework for telecommunications services in TT and the telecommunications (universal service) regulations.

“As part of the data collection exercise, approximately 6,000 households will be surveyed from various communities in the country,” it said.

Members of selected households, ages five and above, will be eligible to participate.

This survey will be done by Kairi Consultants Ltd for three months between April and July 2021. The release said field personnel will be in uniform and have ID cards bearing the logos of TATT, CSO, and Kairi.

It said the information collected will form part of TT's national statistics. It will be used to inform TATTs policies, related to improving ICT access in key geographic areas and address issues affecting population groups at risk of being digitally excluded.
