Chaguanas woman in stable condition after being stabbed, beaten

A 25-year-old woman is warded in the High Dependency Unit at the Port of Spain General Hospital after she was stabbed several times in the neck by another man and woman on Friday night.

A police report said Desia Hughes was at her Chaguanas home when two people known to her stopped in front of her in a car. They then came out armed with knives and attacked her.

The woman stabbed Hughes several times, including once in the neck while the man beat her about the body.

The couple then returned to their car and sped off. Hughes was rushed to the hospital where she underwent surgery and remained in a stable condition but an unsatisfactory condition.

Several people were interviewed. Investigations are continuing.
