Perpetrators, we know you

THE EDITOR: I felt hurt again on hearing the report that a five-year-old child was "abused" by a 55-year-old man. Parents/guardians, stop sending your innocent children to be used as pawns by the neighbour/relative/good friend and/or significant other for ice, papers, food, to babysit, sleep, play, watch TV, borrow money, carry message, etc.

Throughout the decades, many too numerous to recall have been molested, abused, raped, threatened and killed. Parents/guardians have been ashamed, scared. Children’s and parents’ lives have been threatened so that these violent, sordid practices were/are not reported to the appropriate authorities – and the perpetrators walked/walk away free to continue their evil, devious, heinous, behaviour to unsuspecting babes. Also, sometimes justice is not swiftly or justifiably administered.

We the people will report, expose you perpetrators, so that the maximum penalty could be awarded to you. The court must also ensure that the guilty must be offered rehabilitative opportunities to correct his/her unacceptable, detestable lifestyle while in custody and before release into civil society – while their names are added to the Sex Offenders Registry.
