San Fernando magistrates' court closed for sanitising

THE San Fernando magistrates' district court is temporarily closed for sanitisation.

A statement from the Judiciary on Wednesday said all in-person activities at the court are suspended temporarily and no one will be allowed into the building until sanitisation is completed.

“Vacating the building is a precautionary measure in keeping with covid19 safety protocols. The current course of action is ameliorative and also required to investigate the covid19 status of staff.”

The statement did not say if any staff member tested positive for covid19, or was a primary or secondary contact nor did it say when the sanitising exercise will be completed.

However, it did say there can be no in-person hearing or activities while the building is being sanitised and anyone seeking access must make an appointment by contacting the court office at mrcc.sanfernando@ttlawcourts.org.

The public was reminded of the Judiciary’s most recent covid19 emergency rules for the court which, among other things, extended the ban on in-person hearings for another month.

The statement also reminded that court hearings are being conducted virtually and that services such as CourtPay, the domestic violence hotline, and e-filing are available.

Anyone wishing to contact the San Fernando district court by phone can call 223-1060, ext. 3700, 3701, or 3709.
