Political leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) David Abdulah has wished the Prime Minister a speedy and uncomplicated recovery from covid19 after he tested positive on Tuesday.

In a press release, Abdulah went on to send his best wishes to Dr Rowley, encouraging him to “take good medical advice concerning how he can begin a full resumption of his official duties.”

He said Rowley’s infection demonstrates to the population just how vulnerable everyone is to contracting the virus and this must be seen as a “wake-up call to everyone that the virus is a respecter of no one and a powerful reminder to all citizens to continue to take all precautions as directed by the State.”

Abdulah warned those who have found "self-satisfaction" in the PM’s misfortune, disregarding his many efforts to keep the infection rate low to protect the public from experiencing the full brunt of the virus.

“Political animosity ought to play no part when it comes to the health and life of a fellow human being, including our national leaders of all political stripes and hues. Very strong political criticisms and differences ought to be expressed in terms of intense dislike for the ideas and policies of opponents.

"We can express our disgust with the behaviour of leaders, but this must stop short of wishing them illness, injury and most certainly not death.

“Those who engage in behaviour that promotes hatred especially along racial, partisan or religious lines need to be reminded of these words – ‘For They Sow the Wind and They Shall Reap the Whirlwind.’”
