TWO T&TEC employees have tested positive for covid19.

In a media release the commission said the employees are attached to the northern area but did not specify the exact location or location of employment.

It said all health protocols were applied and the necessary contact tracing was conducted which resulted in employees being the self-isolation and the work areas sanitised.

T&TEC also added that the company union, the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) was informed about the situation and their concerns were being considered.

“T&TEC also met with the OWTU on Wednesday to appraise them of the measures taken and provided them with the opportunity to raise any concerns. The OWTU put forward some worthwhile recommendations which are receiving the attention of management.”

When contacted by Newsday on Wednesday afternoon, OWTU representatives said they did not see the press release and was not able comment on the issue or the recommendations the commission referred to.
