President Weekes, mother report feeling good after vaccine

PRESIDENT Paula-Mae Weekes and her 92-year-old mother Phyllis Weekes have reported no side effects the day after receiving their first doses of the covid19 vaccine at the Diego Martin Health Centre.

Weekes' communications adviser Cheryl Lala issued a media release from the President's Office on Wednesday, saying, "Her Excellency is happy to report that both she, with her pre-diabetic status, and her mother, with several co-morbidities, are doing fine and have experienced absolutely no side effects."

The caption on the photo sent with the release said the President was back at work "normal, normal."

The President, the statement said, "urges all eligible citizens to make every effort to get their covid19 vaccines to ensure the safety of everyone.

"Her Excellency thanks those who expressed their concern and sent their good wishes.:

The President and her mother were among the first to receive two of the 33,600 initial doses of the AstraZeneca covid19 vaccine .

On Wednesday Chief Medical Officer Roshan Parasram received his first dose of the vaccine at the La Horquetta Health Centre. He, too, has urged eligible people to register for the vaccine.
