No glitches so far in Freeport covid19 vaccinations
There has been another seamless start to a day of the administration of covid19 vaccines in central Trinidad.
Newsday visited the Freeport Health Centre on Wednesday morning to get a firsthand look at the process.
From 6 am, patients with appointments began trickling in. Those without appointments were guided to make the necessary arrangements by phone and return on the given date.
Kumar Lall said, "I was unsure of the process and came to enquire about it. I was told I needed to make an appointment. The staff was friendly and assisted me with all my questions and concerns.
“The vaccine is very important and at this point in time there are no alternatives in fighting the virus.”
Another patient, who wished to remain anonymous, said while the vaccine was one way to assist against the covid19 virus, people still needed to be responsible.
She said, “It is sad to see people not wearing masks or adhering to the guidelines. We are irresponsible.”
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said on Tuesday that the targeted daily vaccination rate was 1,000.
At the end of the first day of the programme on Tuesday, 1,053 people received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
