President, 62, mother, 92, get covid19 vaccines

President Paula-Mae Weekes, 62, and her mother, Phyllis Weekes, 92, received their covid19 vaccinations on Tuesday.

Cheryl Lala, communications adviser to the President, confirmed that the women had a 9 am appointment at the Diego Martin Health Centre on the Wendy Fitzwilliam Blvd. They received their shots at 9.10 am and were observed for 30 minutes, as is the procedure.

Lala said both women were “perfectly fine” and Weekes was back to work at the Office of the President.

Outside the health centre, scores of elderly people lined up to register to receive their covid19 vaccines. A staff member at the centre confirmed they were not yet vaccinating members of the public.
