Mayaro labourer charged for sex assault on boy, 6

A 57-year-old Mayaro labourer is expected to appear before a Mayaro magistrate on Tuesday charged with sexually penetrating a six-year-old boy.

According to police, the man is alleged to have committed the act on Saturday when the boy was sent to his house to ask for ice. The child was seen running out of the man's house and told his mother what happened.

A report was made to the police. However, before officers arrived, neighbours beat the man and burnt down his house.

The man was charged by PC Mahabir of the Child Protection Unit, Eastern Division, after a joint investigation with the Mayaro police.
