Prison officer collapses on job, dies later at hospital

THE Prison Service is mourning the death of a prison officer who collapsed while on the job and died later while being attended to hospital.

News of the death of Prison Officer Rudy Boodram was made known via a release shared on the Prison Service's Facebook page. The release said Boodram who was an officer with 22 years service, reported for duty at around 11.35 am at the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca, when he suddenly collapsed.

He was taken to the Arima Hospital where he was seen by the attending physician and was pronounced dead at 12.30 pm. No cause of death was given in the release.

Acting Commissioner of Prisons Dennis Pulchan expressed his "most sincere and deepest condolences" on behalf of the Prison Service, to Boodram's family, friends and colleagues of and prayed that all are granted comfort during this "difficult and trying period." Pulchan assured that all courtesies will be extended to Boodram's family.
