OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said Easter offers Trinidad and Tobago the opportunity to rebuild itself from the burdens of the covid19 pandemic.

In her Easter message to the nation, Persad-Bissessar said, "Our focus as a people going forward from the burdens created by the pandemic must be on rebuilding our country."

She continued, "The best way to rebuild our twin-island republic is by each individual striving for their best knowing that the mistakes of the past do not define us as individuals. Each day through his resurrection Jesus redeems us from these mistakes, giving us more opportunities to succeed."

Persad-Bissessar urged all people in authority "to not only echo Easter greetings but Easter actions."

She said, "The Lord showed that he resurrected for the redemption of all, similarly, they must lead, govern and distribute our resources to ensure the rebuilding of all citizens emerging out of this pandemic."

She added, "Those in authority must do more to ease the burdens of the vulnerable, and ensure that all citizens are protected and provided for." Persad-Bissessar said the covid19 pandemic makes this year's celebration "a watershed moment for all citizens of TT."

She said this is a time "in spite of our differences, we unite to rebuild the broken, unite to rebuild our dreams, unite to rebuild our nation and importantly, renew our national hope."
