Driver's permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division due to expire on or before September 30 will be valid up to October 1.

A release from the Ministry of Works and Transport on Thursday said given the impact of covid19 on the operations of the Transport Division’s licensing offices, the minister, Rohan Sinanan, signed orders to extend the validity of the permits.

It said the amendments were operationalised by the Miscellaneous Provisions; 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] (No. 2) Act, 2020.

Also, the timeframe for the completion of any transfer of vehicle registration required to be completed on or before September 30 has been extended to October 1.

The ministry is urging drivers to make the necessary arrangement to have the permits or other documents issued by the Licensing Authority before the extension ends.
