Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis has declared touting for visitors to the Buccoo Marine Park, Tobago, during the Easter weekend will not be tolerated.

Addressing the post-executive council news conference on Wednesday, Dennis announced the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation and the Division of Food Production, Forestry and Fisheries has partnered with the police, Coast Guard and Defence Force Reserves to crack down on this activity.

“We will be ensuring that the situation with touting does not continue during this period and that we will have safety and order in the operations for the marine park,” he told reporters.

Dennis added reef patrol officers will also ensure boat operators do not go beyond their limit and that people do not engage in activities that will not only expose them to infection from covid19 but also put them at risk of drowning.

Responding to a question on whether touting is illegal, Dennis said while this may not be so, it is against the policy of the Tobago House of Assembly.
