22 new covid19 cases reported on Wednesday

The number of active covid19 cases has increased by 22, according to the daily clinical update provided by the Ministry of Health.

The figure continues the trend seen last week of new cases numbering more than ten on a daily basis.

New cases over the past week saw lows of six cases on Monday and four on Tuesday, but last Wednesday new cases spiked, with a total of 38. With the exception of last Sunday, which saw 23 new cases, the rest of the week had lows of nine new cases and a high of 18, which was recorded on Tuesday.

The total of active cases now stands at 269, with 142 deaths to date.

There are 22 patients in hospital, six in step-down facilities, 287 in state quarantine facilities and 219 in home self-isolation.

The ministry said three of the new cases were repatriated people. The samples were taken between March 28 and 30.
