EIGHTEEN new positive cases of covid19 have been recorded over a 24-hour period, the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

In its 4 pm update, the ministry's most recent tally saw the current number of positive cases at 254, with the total number of positive cases recorded since March 12, 2020, reaching 8,004.

It noted that the 18 new cases resulting from samples taken from Saturday to Monday, include three people who were recently repatriated.

Sixteen patients are in hospital. Another four are in step-down facilities, while 303 patients are in state quarantine facilities and 216 remain self-isolated at home.

Fatalities attributed to the virus stand at 142.
