Opposition Senator Wade Mark says the UNC is taking the recent Instagram live appearance of Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi, without a face mask, very seriously and is calling for him to be fired as a government minister.

On Thursday Al-Rawi appeared on an episode of a live game show series Vibes with Voicey, hosted by soca artiste Aaron “Voice” St Louis. The show was streamed from a studio at a private residence.

At a covid19 media briefing on Saturday, the Prime Minister said he was disappointed in Al-Rawi's appearance without the mask noting that the mask-wearing policy applied to everyone regardless of position

In his response Mark said such a response was not good enough and called for harsher measures to be taken.

He also accused Al-Rawi of being hypocritical in his attitudes towards the public health regulations and called on Dr Rowley to fire Al-Rawi as Attorney General.

Mark also called on Police Commissioner Gary Griffith to take action against Al-Rawi for allegedly flaunting the public health regulations by exposing the guests and camera crew to potential infection.

"Faris Al-Rawi, the Attorney General, is a law-maker in the day and a law-breaker in the night.”

Holding a photo which appears to be a screenshot from the show, Mark said: "Mr Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith, here is the evidence. Arrest the Attorney General because he has broken the law. Any ordinary individual caught without a mask would have been charged and fined."

Contacted for comment, Griffith said he did not want to say anything until he got all of the facts surrounding the issue.
