A 28-YEAR-OLD Valencia man appeared virtually before acting Senior Magistrate Cheron Raphael in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with murder.
Jonathan Bernard was charged with the murder of Kevin Torres following advice from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Joan Honore-Paul. The matter was adjourned to April 23.
A police release said at 10 pm on October 23, a man entering his home at Sellier Street, Sangre Grande, saw Torres' body in the yard and a Nissan B14 car parked a short distance away. He contacted the police.
Around 10.05 pm, Sangre Grande police officers arrived and began investigations.
An autopsy later confirmed that Torres had been shot to death. Crime scene investigators retrieved one spent nine-millimetre shell casing. The B14 was later impounded.
