Sheldon Cayenne, the Guapo man accused of throwing a flammable substance on a 51-year-old woman on Sunday, has been denied bail.

Cayenne, 49, of George Blake Trace, is a labourer with the Point Fortin Borough Corporation.

When he faced Point Fortin magistrate Alicia Chankar on Wednesday he was not called upon to enter a plea.

PC Francis charged him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The magistrate denied bail, remanded him in custody and adjourned the case to April 21.

The charge stemmed from a dispute on Sunday night at the woman’s home off Parryland Road in Guapo.

Police contend the man was threatening to set the woman on fire as well as burn down her house. He then threw the substance on her. She managed to run away.

Guapo police were contacted, and they arrested him nearby.
