A Tunapuna doubles vendor is in critical condition after an early-morning shooting at his store on Thursday.

Police said Amar Hosein was at his businessplace at around 3 am when a gunman walked up to him and shot him in the hand and the head while he was preparing doubles.

Workers heard the shots and took Hosein to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was treated.

Hosein is the owner of popular chain of doubles vendors Sauce Doubles.

Last December another Sauce doubles vendor, Karem Jervis, was gunned down at his doubles stand in Curepe.

In August 2019, 34-year-old doubles vendor Shazard Manick was shot dead by gunmen in Curepe.
