Malabar man charged for businessman's murder

A MALABAR man has been charged for the murder of a businessman and is expected to appear virtually before an Arima magistrate on Thursday to answer the charge.

Andrew Sutton, 28, was charged on Wednesday for the murder of Nicholas Mohith on the advice of acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Joan Honore-Paul.

A police press release said that at 4 pm on Thursday March 11, 31-year-old Mohith and his father were at the family business off the Eastern Main Road in Arouca when a man walked up to Mohith and shot him.

Mohith's father pushed a table at the assailan,t who ran out. The businessman chased after the gunman who managed to escape.

Mohith was taken to the Arima Hospital, then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope, where he died.
