Guapo man charged with throwing flammable substance on woman

A 49-year-old Guapo man detained for allegedly throwing a flammable substance on a woman was expected to face a Point Fortin magistrate on Wednesday.

Police charged him with throwing the substance on the 51-year-old woman with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm.

The charge stemmed from a dispute on Sunday night at the woman’s home off Parryland Road in Guapo.

Police contend the man was threatening to set the woman on fire as well as burn down her house. He then threw the substance on her.

She managed to run away, averting a potential tragedy.

Guapo police were contacted, and they arrested him nearby.
