Point Fortin man killed over 'drugs,' girlfriend in hospital

A Point Fortin man was brutally killed by a group of men on Tuesday morning, allegedly over drugs.

Police reported 35-year-old Martin Pattan was at home at Walker Street, Egypt Village in Point Fortin when the men entered and requested "the drugs."

They said the men then shot Pattan in the neck and fled.

But sources close to the family said Pattan was also stabbed and chopped in the neck and his right arm severed. His girlfriend was also chopped and is at the Point Fortin Hospital.

They told Newsday Pattan was known in the community for being involved in drug-dealing, particularly with Venezuelans.

Pattan leaves behind two young children, who were not at home during the altercation.
