Marijuana plants destroyed, drugs seized

Early morning exercises in the Northern Division led to the several marijuana trees being destroyed and a quantity of the drugs being seized on Monday.

Police said a team of police from various divisions in the Northern Division went to Pinto Road, Arima, to search for guns and ammunition but instead found 12 fully grown marijuana trees on Freedom Street.

The plants were destroyed.

Police then went to Bob Lane, off Punnette Avenue, where they found 1.5 kilograms of marijuana. A 66-year-old man who was in the house at the time was arrested in relation to the find.

Hours later police went to Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park, where they arrested a 21-year-old man in relation to reports of a wounding in Arima.

The exercise was led by Snr Supt Ramkhelawan, Supt Edwards, ASP Deonarine, Insps Ward, Ramharack and Cpl Boyce.
