Police are investigating the death of a Laventille man whose body was found at his home on Monday morning.

They said they received a report of a stabbing at St Barb's Road, Laventille, at around 7.08 am and found the body of Anthony Blackman Jr in his room.

Investigators said a relative woke up at around 6 am and saw Blackman apparently bleeding from his face on the floor of his bedroom.

Blackman was declared dead at the scene. Police said there were no marks of violence or wounds on his body, and labelled it an unnatural death.

A bucket of blood was also found in the room.

Investigators said they suspect Blackman was suffering from an illness that caused him to bleed internally.

An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Wednesday.
Port of Spain police are continuing enquiries.
