Martin takes lead at TT Open Golf

BEN Martin leapfrogged Simon Merry in the professional category and will start day three on Saturday in the lead in the 113th TT Open Golf tournament at St Andrew’s Golf Course in Moka, Maraval.

Martin ended day two with an overall score of 141 as he followed his score of 73 on the opening day with a four-under-par 68 on Friday.

Merry, who ended day one as the leader, is now second with a score of 143 after rounds of 71 and 72. Chris Richards snr is third with 145 after shooting rounds of 76 and 69.

His son Chris Richards jnr leads the championship division with an overall score of 145, followed by Zico Correia (150) and Richard Camacho (150).

In the second flight, Learie Flores is in first place with 165. Eun Dae Lee is second with 167 and Asa Roopchand is third with 169.

Friday was the final day in the masters division. First place gross went to Maurice Mathura, first place net went to Anthony Proudfoot and Michael Charles ended in second place.

The tournament ends on Sunday.
