The National Council of Orisha Elders of TT will host an event on Sunday celebrating the spring equinox and praying for protection for Trinidad and Tobago against covid19.

The event will take place at the Ancestral Lands at Lopinot, Bon Air West, beginning at 3 pm.

In a release, the council said members of the Orisha community will “with prayers and praises to the Ancestors and the Orishas, pray for the protection and blessing, for this our country Trinidad and Tobago from major outbreaks of infection of the covid19 pandemic and its various strains." They said they were " asking the energies" to continue to guide the Prime Minister and the Government "for the positive decisions made thus far, for the peoples of this nation and for future generations.”

The event will last approximately three hours, including prayers, drumming, and singing.

The council said the land is an open space and the guidelines on mask-wearing and sanitising will be observed.

The National Council of Orisha Elders of TT is an umbrella organisation that represents the registered Orisha shrines of the council.
