9 new cases on Friday, 14 in past 2 days

NINE new covid19 cases were reported by the Ministry of Health yesterday, bringing to 14, the number of new cases being reported between Thursday and Friday.

The ministry's daily 4 pm e-mailed update on Friday, confirmed nine new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours. This means 7,821 covid19 cases have been reported with 7,552 patients recovering. The local death toll from the virus remains at 140. There are 129 active positive cases.

The release added that six people remain in hospital, one is at a step-down facility, 421 remain in State quarantine facilities and 113 are at home self-isolating. Of the nine new cases, the ministry pointed out, two were recently repatriated. Of the total number of people tested, 49,277 were done at the private facilities. The latest number of cases, reflects samples taken during the period March 16 to 18.
