St Clair, Jaipaul share seven wickets in trial match

LEFT-ARM bowlers Daniel St Clair and Ricky Jaipaul shared seven wickets on Wednesday in the opening day of a four-day TT Red Force trial match, between the Isaiah Rajah XI and the Keagan Simmons XI, at the National Cricket Centre, Couva.

Pace bowler St Clair captured five wickets for 44 runs and spinner Jaipaul took 2/22 as the Rajah XI were bowled out for 190.

The Rajah XI, who won the toss and decided to bat first, were reeling at 96 runs for eight wickets before veteran Marlon Richards (51) and Jharon Alfred (29) produced a ninth-wicket partnership of 92, in 22 overs, to earn a measure of respectability for their team.

Bryan Charles chipped in with 28 not out while there were 32 extras.

The Simmons XI closed the day on 33/1 with Jyd Goolie (19) and Simmons (eight) the unbeaten batsmen.
