Security guard's missing gun found near St Joseph health centre

FIVE days after it was reported missing, a Glock semi-automatic pistol issued by a security company to one of its guards was found in a box near a drain on Sunday.

St Joseph CID, acting on a tip-off, went to an area near the St Joseph Health, Centre where they found the white box with the gun inside. They also found two magazines each holding 11 rounds of nine-millimetre calibre ammunition.

Police said the pistol's serial number matched that of the gun reported missing last Tuesday by the security company.

Sources said the gun was usually stored in a steel vault in a security booth at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

St Joseph police are continuing enquiries.
