Jaipaul grabs six-wicket haul in Red Force trial

LEFT-ARM spinner Ricky Jaipaul was the star with the ball on day two of the three-day TT Red Force trial match at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, on Wednesday.

Resuming on 20 without loss, the Red Force Katwaroo XI were all out for 153 to give the Red Force Simmons XI a lead of 112 runs on first innings. Jahron Alfred cracked 46 for the Katwaroo XI and Ewart Nicholson pitched in with 28. Bowling for the Simmons XI, off spinner Jon Russ Jaggesar snatched 3/36 and fast bowler Marlon Richards took 3/23. Spinner Kavesh Kantasingh was also among the wickets with 2/29.

Jaipaul then took over grabbing 6/25 as the Simmons XI were bundled out for 122 in the second innings. Isaiah Rajah and Kirstan Kallicharan were the main contributors with 38 and 27 respectively.

Chasing 235 for victory, the Katwaroo XI closed on 46/2 with Tion Webster hitting 34. Fast bowler Jarlarnie Seales closed the day with 2/26. Red Force are preparing for the West Indies Four-Day Championship.
