Workers from the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) left "a hump" in the centre of the recently-paved Cross Crossing, San Fernando road after they repaired a leaking pipeline.

But drivers who had to manoeuvre around the crudely blocked-off roadway were left fuming.

Workers at the nearby NP gas station told Newsday a WASA crew came on Tuesday to fix the leak and left the area filled with a mixture of sand and stone, cordoned off with pieces of PVC pipe and yellow caution tape.

Typically, there is heavy traffic congestion there on mornings, but workers said that has worsened since the repair. The width of the road, which is usually three lanes of traffic, has now been narrowed to two.

Drivers posted photos of the area on social media on Thursday to complain.

One gas station worker said, "The night it was dug up, a bunch of vehicles almost crashed because there weren't any proper (caution) signs. Whole night, you hearing brakes mashing."

He said he hopes it is fixed soon.

A WASA spokesman said they will look into the complaint.
