The daughter of murder victim Karen Johanna Rauseo remembered her as a fashionable woman who loved to style her hair and put on her signature red lipstick.

Eulogising her mother, Camille Molineau described Rauseo as a very friendly person who greeted everyone she met. She loved to make jokes and sometimes would burst into laughter even before finishing sharing them.

Rauseo, also known as Rauseo-Karim, 53, was the mother of two and grandmother of one.

Rauseo’s funeral took place at the Mt Olive No1 Independent Baptist Church at Indian Walk, Moruga, on Monday.

The same day, her common-law husband Robert Taylor, 59, was expected to face a Princes Town magistrate charged with murdering her.

The church heard that Rauseo was “overly attached” to her son, Chamiel, always grooming, dressing and petting him.

Mourners laughed when Molineau said, “Sometimes I would think that she was preparing to put him for an exhibition, to put him in a glass case or something like that.”

Molineau said her mother always "appointed nicknames" to her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

The Rev Sherwin Alleyne prayed for God to give the family strength to go from strength to strength.

Quoting scripture, he urged the congregation to live a life that would ensure that their names are in the Lamb’s book of life.

This world, he said, is filled with pain and sorrow, caused by various factors, including natural disasters and humans.

“In times like these, we see that the heart of men is so desperately wicked. We see stealing, we see cheating, we see lying, we see murder and all sorts of wickedness on the face of the earth,” Alleyne said.

He said the good news is, there will be a new heaven, new earth, and a new Jerusalem. In that new heaven, there will be no more sorrow, no more pain and no more grief, no more murder.

Like Molineau, Alleyne did not make reference to the accused.

Brother Keron Cooper also spoke and called for the congregation to believe in Jesus.

Rauseo was buried at the Indian Walk public cemetery.Police said the accused "found" Rauseo's body on March 2 in a rented house at Buen Intento Road in Princes Town. He and Rauseo had moved into the apartment less than 24 hours earlier. At around 8 pm on March 1, neighbours heard screaming coming from the apartment.

Rauseo previously lived at Ramdhanie Trace in Indian Walk.

Taylor, of Princes Town, reported that he found her body on the floor near the kitchen after returning home from work in Claxton Bay. She had been beaten.

He said when he left home earlier that day, around 5 am, she was asleep.

W/Cpl Callender of the Homicide Bureau Region III supervised investigations and PC Bernard laid the charge.

A few days ago, legal officer PC Kyrn Lewis presented a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). On Saturday, Deputy DPP Joan Honore-Paul advised police to charge the suspect.
