Almost a year since 1st covid19 death, toll rises to 140

After going 16 days without a covid19 death, TT has recorded another, taking the toll to 140 on Monday.

It is almost a year after the country recorded its first covid19 death on March 25, 2020.

No new cases were recorded on Monday.

The Ministry of Health, in its daily update, said there are 93 active cases.

Of these, ten people are hospitalised, 78 in home isolation and five in step-down facilities waiting to be discharged. There are 477 repatriated people in state quarantine facilities, with more due to return soon.

The first local case was recorded on March 12, 2020, and since then the country has had 7,736 cases. A total of 7,509 patients have been discharged.

The ministry said 99,115 samples have been sent to testing sites, and of these, 46,477 tests were done at private sites.
