A Point Fortin man is now dead after being gunned down at his home on Friday afternoon.

Police reported that around 4.30 pm, they were alerted to a shooting at 16th Street, Techier Village in Point Fortin.

When they arrived, they met a woman who said 52-year-old Evril Jeffrey had been shot and she was taking him to the Point Fortin Hospital in her vehicle.

Eyewitnesses told police Jeffrey was standing in his yard when a gunman dressed in a brown coverall with orange stripes approached and shot him several times.

Jeffrey was shot in the chest, neck, lower back and left arm.

After being treated at the Point Fortin Hospital, he was transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died.

Jeffrey was an employee at Atlantic LNG and has two daughters.

Newsday was told his wife is inconsolable.

One neighbour said he was a “very humble, quiet and private man.”
