"This is a warning."

This is what a gunman said after he shot and wounded a 34-year-old Princes Town woman at her home on Thursday night.

Police said the unemployed woman from Craignish Village was in the living room area at around 7 pm when a man walked through the opened front door. He asked her for the "boss," and before she had a chance to respond, he shot her upper right thigh.

Before leaving, he said: "This is a warning."

The shooter was wearing a black hoodie which partially covered his face and a pair of long black pants.

An ambulance took the wounded woman to the Princes Town district health facility.

She was later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital. Up to Friday, she remained in a stable condition.

Princes Town police, among them Insp Victor, Cpl Singh, PCs Jugoon and Sooknanan, WPC Alexander and officers of the Southern Division Task Force visited the scene. Police also searched for the shooter without luck.

Police recovered a 9mm spent shell.

Sgt Barran is leading investigations.
