Give thanks and go to work

THE EDITOR: It is more than time that the general workforce wakes up to the reality of covid19 taking up the very air that we breathe. Gone are the days when any union leader can play macho and order their membership to stay at home unless union demands are satisfied.

We are an educated people. The evidence is there in the international news media. Economies in both the First World and the Third World are running on empty. Millions of workers, in all countries, are home for an indeterminate future.

If one is fortunate enough to have a government-paid salary, give praise and turn out to work. Your union leader may collect your membership dues but they do not/cannot pay salaries.

All sensible workers must appreciate which side of his bread gets buttered and understand who is holding the knife.
