Two Vessigny men held for larceny at school

South Western Division police arrested two men, 19 and 20, in connection with a school break-in and larceny of equipment worth thousands of dollars.
Police also held a 23-year-old man for having a gun, and 22 others during an anti-crime exercise in the La Brea and Guapo districts between 4 am and 2 pm on Friday.

Police said people entered the National Energy Skills Centre's compound at Vessigny Village, La Brea, a few days ago and stole several pieces of industrial equipment. They later recovered some of the items and arrested two villagers.
In a separate incident, police arrested a 23-year-old labourer after they found a loaded gun at his home at Mitchell Street in South Oropouche.

They searched his home at about 7.30 am, found a Berretta pistol with four rounds of 9 mm ammunition and immediately arrested him.
The 22 other people were arrested on outstanding warrants for various offences.
Snr Supt Brandon John, Supt Singh and ASP Mathura led the exercise, which Insp Ali and Sgts Gosine and Ramdeo supervised. It also included CID, South Western Division Task Force, Canine Unit and warrant officers.
