What about my intelligent letters?

THE EDTOR: It’s a shame none of my intelligent, thoughtful, factual and well-articulated letters ever get published in your newspaper, yet a letter from one Anthony Arrindell from Maraval was highlighted and published. The heading of this letter was "Kudos to ‘crackshot’ Constable."

How can Mr Arrindell conclude that these three men shot at the constable first in an attempt to rob him? Was he present at the scene during this alleged exchange of gunfire at Lady Chancellor Hill? As far as I am aware, this incident is still under investigation.

But more importantly, the person in charge of this column saw it fit and proper to give this speculative letter the light of day, yet a letter like this one that I am writing never gets published. I do understand that this media is a private enterprise and not Government run, therefore it’s the "owner's" right to pick and choose who gets to voice their opinion and who does not.

So I do understand I don't have the right to have my letters published nor does anyone else. However, private media and all other private enterprises must understand and be reminded that their funding to operate and stay in business still comes from members of the public.

Recently, I detailed in an unpublished letter to this forum about a fraudulent situation I found myself in. It was my very own experience, I was very much present at the scene. It was at a polling station on November 3, 2020. As a matter of public service, I wanted the world to know that I was given the opportunity to vote twice. Why would I want to vote two times?

Do I have to change my name to GA Marques, Lynette Joseph, Aiyegoro Ome, Raymond S Hackett, Israel Khan, AV Rampersad, Michael J. Williams, Linus F. Didier to have my letter highlighted?

I can’t believe in a nation of about 1.5 million people, it’s the same eight to ten people who only pen letters to your column. Please, I am respectfully requesting that you be be fair and democratic and give others a hearing. Like many of my other letters, I don’t expect this one to be published either.
