A 58-year-old Chaguanas man is expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on Tuesday charged with three counts of impersonating a police officer earlier this month.

Police said Robin Krishna Mahabir went to the Siparia CID at around 3 pm last Friday and claimed to be a police inspector assigned to the department.

Officers there asked to see his police identification badge but Mahabir said he did not have one.

Mahabir was detained while officers from the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and the Siparia CID went to his home at Egypt Village, Endeavour, Chaguanas, where they found a radio and police swivel lights installed on his car.

Mahabir was charged on Monday for impersonating a police officer.
