Man found shot dead in Laventille

POLICE are yet to identify the body of a man found with gunshot wounds in Laventille on Saturday morning.

At about 9 am, police were told there was a  body at Thomasine Street, Laventille. The man had been shot in the head. There was no identification on the body.

In an unrelated shooting, an Arima man is in critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope after he was shot and his home set on fire.

Police report that around 3 am on Saturday, Larry Small of Riverside Extension, Unity Ville, Darwill Gardens, Arima was taken to the Arima Health Facility by a neighbour. The doctor told police  the 32-year-old was shot in the right side of his chest and left upper abdomen.

Police later found out  the man’s galvanised shack had been burnt down. The fire was reported about half an hour before the man was taken to hospital. Police are yet to determine a motive for the arson and attempted murder.
