Embacadere man gunned down

A man with several gun and gun-related cases pending in the Southern and South Western Division was gunned down in San Fernando on Friday afternoon.

Michael "Ato" Gaskill, 28, died on the scene at the HDC housing development building off Ramsaran Street. He lived at Lady Hailes Avenue, Embacadere, in an area known as the Bronx. He was unemployed. He also had other addresses in Fyzabad, police said.

Reports are, at about 3 pm on Friday, residents heard gunshots and later found Gaskill’s body with gunshot wounds at the side of the building.

Police were contacted.

Supt Carty, Insps Carraspe and Williams, Cpl Smith, and other officers from the Southern Division and the Homicide Bureau Region III visited the scene and searched for evidence.

Gaskill was last arrested in 2019 near his home for having a gun. That case, as well as several others, remained pending at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.

Residents at the scene claimed they did not know anything about Gaskill nor his reasons for being in the area.

They also said they did not know anything about the killing.

No one was arrested.
