Cops nab two during Maraval drug deal

Two men were expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate on Friday to answer charges of drug trafficking.

A police media release on Friday reported that the men – Benjamin Martin, 30 of Catalina Court, Haleland Court, Saddle Road, Maraval and Dion Salandy, 31, of Gokool Street, Diego Martin – were arrested on Thursday by members of the North Eastern Division Task Force.

Police received information and went to Catalina Court, where they saw the men carrying out a transaction in a white Nissan AD Wagon.

They searched the men and the car and found five sealed packages containing marijuana with a weight of 5.2 kilograms. The drugs had a value of $50,000.

North Eastern Division police are continuing enquiries.
