Two held, shotgun, ammunition, drugs seized in Arouca

Two men are in police custody after police found them with a quantity of ammunition and drugs at a house in Arouca on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said members of the Northern Division Task Force Area Central and the Intelligence Unit went to a house on Yearwood Street, Thomas Trace, at around 4.50 pm and found 12 rounds of ammunition and 683 grams of marijuana.

Two men, 18 and 47, were arrested at the house and taken to the Arouca police station for questioning.

Hours later at 7.30 pm police went to a forested area off Lopinot Road, Arouca, where they found a 12-gauge shotgun with two cartridges.

No one was arrested in relation to the weapon.

Arouca police are continuing enquiries.
